Like the women, the men won two sets of doubles but were not as successful in the singles matches. Jacob Rogers however had a victorious afternoon, winning both his singles and doubles match, with partner Juan Carlos Aguilera. Timur Kamilou and Gabriel Altmayer also won their doubles match ending the day with a 6-3 loss to Shaw.
Shaw University and North Greenville have been closely matched over the years. “We have won and lost to them in the past,” said Mark Elliot. “All matches were close today. Gabriel lost in a tie breaker and William Ho lost in three sets.” While it was bitterly cold today, Coach Elliot said they could not blame the weather, for both teams had to play in the conditions and Shaw still came out on top.
The men will again be at home tomorrow, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m., for their match against USC Aiken.
