Tigerville, SC - Gareth Greene scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season as the North Greenville Crusaders completed a come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Mount Olive Trojans. It was a tale of two halves as the Trojans dominated the first half in shots while the Crusaders dominated the second. The victory broke a five-game losing streak and moves NGU up to eighth in the Conference Carolinas standings.
Mount Olive struck quickly with a goal by MacLayne Gairrett in the 11th minute. Gairrett would then strike again in the 26th minute with his second goal of the match to put UMO up 2-0. However, the Crusaders responded immediately after when Gareth Greene found the back of the net to put the Crusaders on the board. After a yellow card on Marlon Evans, the half would end with twelve shots going to Mount Olive and four going to North Greenville.
Immediately after yellow cards on Zach Baker and UMO's Sam Murphy, NGU scored the equalizer in the 68th minute when Gareth Greene scored with an assist by Marlon Evans. Around fifteen minutes later, the Crusaders would take the lead for the first time in the match with a goal by Casey Brady in the 85th minute. Mount Olive was unable to put up a shot in the final few minutes. NGU dominated the second half in shots with eleven and allowing just two.\
Gareth Greene had a night to remember, scoring 2 goals and taking 7 shots with 6 on goal.
Casey Brady scored the game-winning goal and recorded 4 total shots.
Marlon Evans received an assist when his free kick led to a goal.
The Crusaders will return to action Wednesday, October 17th against the Limestone Saints in Tigerville.
