Tigerville, SC - The Crusaders fell to the Chowan Hawks 2-0 in a chippy match that resulted in five yellow cards as well as a red card. NGU couldn't get much going offensively as the Hawks kept the defense on its heels for most of the match. With a conference record of 1-4-1, North Greenville now places 10th in the Conference Carolinas regular season standings.
Will Moy quickly took the first shot of the match, which resulted in a save. In the 19th minute, James Segovia received his fifth yellow card of the season. From there, the Hawks dominated the remainder of the first half in shots. Just before the end of the half, CU's Djordje Novovic was charged with a yellow card. The half would come to an end with Chowan leading in shots 9-3.
North Greenville again would take the first shot of the half when Keletso Mathathe took a shot that went wide left. Around ten minutes later, Nick Roberson would be given a yellow card. After several shots taken by the Hawks, Will Moy would be given NGU's first red card of the season when he made hard contact with Chowan's goalkeeper, Elliot Chadderton. Chadderton would have to leave the match due to an injury. JJ Wojciki would replace him as CU's goalkeeper. After a yellow card on Chowan's Samuel Zuniga, the Hawks would break the scoreless tie when Lee Wattam scored his second goal of the season. A few minutes later, Lee Wattam was charged with CU's third yellow card of the match. Not long after, Chowan struck again with a goal by Denis Roule, his third of the season. Time would run out for the Crusaders to give the Hawks the shutout.
