Men's soccer falls to SWU

Central, S.C. - North Greenville dropped its final conference game of the season today, falling 2-1 to Southern Wesleyan University.

North Greenville started off strong in the first half as Chris Inman’s (9:35) first shot of the game went past SWU Goalie Miguel Uribe to put the Crusaders up 1-0 early in the game. Inman as well as Jake Quinn and Luis Molina would try to score but would not be able to find success as the Crusaders would finish the first half up 1-0 over the Warriors.

Chris Inman would lead North Greenville in shots on goal and The Crusaders would finish the half without allowing a single shot on goal.

The Warriors were determined to even the score up in the second half and did so when Sebastian Castro setup Christian Taylor (58:13) to head the ball past NGU goalie Mateo Barzola to tie the game up at one all. It would not take long for SWU to take the lead as Fernando Posada assisted Marcelo Vargas (60:14) in the second goal on the game for the Warriors. North Greenville’s Jonny Lind, Chris Inman and Matthew Woodington all made attempts at evening the score back up but none would be able to find success as Southern Wesleyan took down the Crusaders 2-1.

Chris Inman would lead the Crusaders in shots on goal with two shots as well as scoring his second goal on the season.

North Greenville will return home for the last time on Thursday, October 27, 2016 as they take on Truett McConnell University.
