Crusaders shutout by #14 Limestone

Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville fell short against #14 Limestone College Saturday as the Saints would go on to win the game 4-0. NGU is now 1-4-1 on the season (0-3-1 CC).

The first half of the game was all Limestone as they took a 2-0 lead over the Crusaders. The First of Limestones scores came from an unassisted goal by Jorge Salvat (10:17) for his second goal of the season. Limestone didn’t let off the throttle when Miguel Anton (17:37) went unassisted for a second Limestone goal for his for his second score of the season. North Greenville’s Mateo Barzola finished the first half with three saves and James Max Miller finished the game with five saves of the ten shots taken. NGU would finish the first half without a shot on goal.

NGU would attempt to put points up on the board at the start of the second half with Jaggar Segovia’s shot in the fiftieth minute but LC Goalkeeper Thomas Osborne would record his lone save for the game. Limestone kept their momentum going in the second half as Gul Machado (53:39) would go unassisted for his eighth score on the season. This wouldn’t be the end of Limestone’s offensive assault as Jorge Salvat (73:45) would put in his third goal of the season. Several fast break attempts from Vitor Tarpinian and Chris Inman would not find net at the end of the second half.

Mateo Barzola would finish the game with three saves and one goal allowed and James Max Miller would finish the game with 12 saves while allowing three goals allowed. Jaggar Segovia’s shot in the fiftieth minute would be North Greenville’s lone shot on goal.

The Crusaders will travel to Bristol, Tennessee on Saturday, October 1, 2016 to take on the King University Tornados in hopes to record their first conference win.
