NGU Men's Lacrosse head coach Corey Struss has named Austin Dixon, Braeden Dixon, Taylor Lanzillo, and Chris Wieckhorst as the team captains for the upcoming 2020 season.
Austin Dixon comes off an All-Conference year where he led the team with 33 goals in 2019. He contributed in other areas as well, recording 13 assists and 28 ground balls. Dixon performed extremely well in the classroom as well, earning the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Spring Scholar Athlete of the Year award as well as Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference.
Braeden Dixon held strong as the team's primary goalkeeper in 2019, starting 10 games in the position. He averaged over ten saves per game and posted a .538 save percentage for the year. Like his brother, Braeden was also named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference team.
Taylor Lanzillo played in 14 games last season as a midfielder. He posted a goal, five ground balls, caused two turnovers, and even won a faceoff. The senior Sports Management major from Haddon Township, NJ will look to have a big year in 2019.
Chris Wieckhorst rounds up the 2019 captains. Wieckhorst was a vital asset to the 2019 team as a big contributor for both offense and defense. Offensively, Weickhorst put up seven goals and five assists. On defense, he collected 41 ground balls and caused 19 turnovers. He was named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference second team in 2019.
“We are thrilled that the team has nominated these 4 young men to lead our program this year.” Coach Struss said. “They represent exactly what we look for in a North Greenville lacrosse player, and have embraced a culture of accountability by challenging their teammates to be their very best. These are the guys that have already led the way without the title, and I know they will continue to put the team before themselves in everything they do.” - Corey Struss - Head Coach
