The North Greenville Crusaders continue to have a strong second half of the season with a 19-4 victory over the Lees-McRae Bobcats in Banner Elk, North Carolina. With the win, the Crusaders have now scored a combined 66 goals in the last three games. Austin Dixon led the charge with four goals.
1st Quarter (5-0 NGU)
North Greenville needed just over a minute to get on the board. Austin Zumbado would go on to score the first goal with an assist by Alex Proly. Proly would provide a second assist on the next goal, which was scored by Brendan Sullivan. Sullivan would then score the next two goals with one of those being assisted by Austin Dixon. With just over a minute remaining in the quarter, Taylor Lanzillo put NGU up by five to end the quarter with an assist by Braeden Dixon.
2nd Quarter (10-1 NGU)
Ethan Landreth began the quarter by scoring two consecutive goals. Both goals were assisted by Chris Carpenter. With just over twelve minutes remaining in the half, Austin Dixon put NGU up 8-0 with an assist by Ethan Landreth. Thomas Cecere and Dixon would then score unassisted goals to put the Crusders in double digits for the game. With jus tover two minutes remaining in the half, the Bobcats would finally get on the board with a goal.
3rd Quarter (13-2 NGU)
NGU would spend the first several minutes of the half adding to the lead with goals by Kenny Wessels, Carpenter and Derrick Shealy. Assists were provided by Cecere, Landreth, and Carpenter. Lees-McRae's second goal of the game would come with four minutes left in the quarter.
4th Quarter (19-4 NGU)
After a fairly quier third quarter, North Greenville would come to life in the fourth quarter. A minute in, Dixon connected for a goal with an assist by Shealy. Kyle Hunziker followed up with a goal of his own. After a third goal by LMC, Dixon, Wieckhorst, and Corey Long responded with goals to put the Crusaders up by 15. Lees-McRae scored their final goal with just under four minutes remaining, but Matt Miller ended the scoring with a goal, which was assisted by Kyle Lesko.
Austin Dixon had a solid day with 4 goals, an assist, and 7 total shots on goal.
Brendan Sullivan recorded 3 shots, all of which resulted in goals.
Chris Carpenter provided 3 assists and scored a goal.
NGU will return to action on Saturday, April 13th to face the Chowan Hawks in Tigerville.
