The comeback story of NGU's own Michael Neustifter continues to gain national attention as Sports Illustrated has featured him on their Daily Cover.
Neustifter, who transferred to North Greenville for the 2019 season, started six and played in seven games to begin the season. However, his season came to an early end after an eye condition was not allowing him to see the ball well. Thought to be a detached retina, Neustifter later found out that a previous injury may have led to the condition, and spent several months taking treatments and exercising his eyes to improve his vision.
Returning to the field in 2020, Neustifter was hitting .315 when the season came to an early end due to COVID-19. Michael will await the results of the 2020 MLB draft to decide whether he will sign a professional contract or return to NGU next season.
