Baseball picks up win at Chowan
Chris Harbit had 3 hits and 2 RBI

MURFREESBORO—The Chowan University Baseball team dropped to 18-12 on the season after losing 13-7 this afternoon to North Greenville University.

Both teams were exchanging runs early in the game, as the Hawks starter, Chris Nelson was cruising. In the top of the 4th inning the Crusaders lit the Hawks up for 9 runs. The Crusaders mixed in 3 bunts with extra base hits to combine for 9 runs on the inning.

The Hawks continued to battle and chip away at the Crusaders lead. The Hawks main offense came from Justin Hollingsworth when he blasted a Grand Slam to pull the Hawks within striking distance in the 5th inning. The homerun pulled the Hawks within 6 runs. The Hawks continued to battle as Joey Ryder hit his 5th homerun of the season in the 7th inning. The Hawks late rally came up short as the stellar pitching from North Greenville's staff shut out the Hawks after Ryder's homerun.

Grayson Smith picked up the win for the Crusaders giving him 2 wins on the season. Chris Nelson picked up the loss for the Hawks whiched dropped his overall record to 4-3 on the season.

The Crusaders picked up big days from Chris Harbit who had 3 hits and 2 RBI, while Brandon Duckworth chipped in 2 hits and 3 RBI. The Crusaders move to 3-25-1 on the season.

The Hawks and Crusaders will meet again tomorrow, March 29th, for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM on the campus of Chowan University.
