Tigerville, SC - North Greenville lost the Battle of the Crusaders with a final score of 3-2 this afternoon. NGU took two of the first three sets, but couldn't keep the momentum and ultimately dropped the final two sets. Abigail Durham led the way with 12 kills and 25 total attacks.
A competitive opening set saw North Greenville take the lead several times throughout, but were never able to pull away from Belmont Abbey. Down 21-19, BAC would close out the set by scoring six of the final seven points to win the opening set 25-22.
Set two was the most competitive on the match, featuring 17 ties throughout. North Greenville fell behind 19-15, but responded with six straight points to pull ahead 21-19. BAC would come back to force extra points, but NGU would string together two points to take the second set 29-27.
Belmont Abbey dominated the beginning of the third set, pulling ahead to a 7-1 lead. North Greenville trailed for practically the entire set, but ended it with a 6-1 run to impressively come back to win the set 25-23.
BAC made sure that the same thing would not happen in set four. After pulling ahead early once again, Belmont Abbey continued to open up the lead, eventually leading by as much as ten. They would go on to take the set 25-16.
The momentum carried over into the final set for Belmont Abbey, scoring the first seven points to put NGU in a hole they just couldn't climb out of. BAC would ultimately win the set easily 15-5 escape Tigerville with the win.
North Greenville will face the King Tornado in Tigerville on Wednesday, November 6th.
