Crusaders Sweep Warriors in Three Sets

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville took care of business with a 3-0 victory over the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan. SWU challenged the Crusaders in the opening set, forcing NGU to make a comeback to win it in extra points. However, the final two sets were less of an issue as North Greenville was able to take both rather comfortably. Katie McManaway led the way with 16 kills and 35 total attacks.

NGU built a quick 5-1 lead to open up the match. However, Southern Wesleyan would wake up to put together a 7-1 run to take the lead. Trailing 17-15, the Warriors put up a scare with another 7-1 run to take a 22-18 lead. From there, the Crusaders were able to storm back, taking eight of the final ten points to win the opening set with a score of 26-24.

North Greenville continued where they left off to begin set two, scoring eight of the first nine points. Up 9-5, NGU would continue to carry the momentum with a 12-5 run to seemingly put the set out of reach. The Crusaders would go on to take the set 25-15.

Set three began as a competitive one, but a 7-0 run allowed the Crusaders to build up a 14-6 lead. Soon after, NGU would score five in a row to lead 20-9. Southern Wesleyan was able to dig into the lead, but ultimately North Greenville had no issue and would go on to win the set 25-17.

The Crusaders will return to action on Friday, October 25th against the Flagler College Saints in Tigerville.
