North Greenville was unable to get much going in a 3-0 loss to the Pacer of USC Aiken in Aiken, South Carolina. In all three sets, the Crusaders committed as many errors as kills for a .000 attack percentage. Erin Allen once again led in kills with 10 as well as total attacks with 40.
Set one proved to be the story of momentum swings as most points for both teams were scored consecutively. Down 18-9, NGU attempted to get back into the set with a 3-1 run, but the Pacers put an end to that with a 5-1 run and ultimately won the set 25-14.
The second set began as a struggle for the Crusaders as USC Aiken jumped out to a 10-2 lead. The Crusaders came to life with a 3-1 run that included kills by Kelli Davis and Paige Beisecker. However, NGU would not score consecutive points for the remainder of the set while USCA ended the set with a 3-1 run to take it 25-15.
USC Aiken began set three with a 4-0 lead. North Greenville would come back with a 3-1 run, but a 7-0 run by the Pacers that game them a 14-4 lead proved to be too much to come back from. However, the Crusaders did not go down without a fight, cutting the deficit down to four points to make the score 20-15. The Pacers ended the set on a 6-2 run to win it 25-17.
NGU will try to bounce back tomorrow morning against the Hawks of Shorter University at 10:00 AM in Aiken.
