NGU Wraps Up Queens Fall Classic With Loss to Lenoir-Rhyne

North Greenville fought hard in the Queens Fall Classic, but finished up the weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Crusaders began the match with a .257 attack percentage, their best of the tournament, but were not as successful in the second set and recorded a negative percentage in set three. Erin Allen led in kills with 10 and total attacks with 31.

An even start to the match saw twelve ties throughout the opening set. With the Crusaders leading 14-13, the Bears came to life with an 8-1 run to lead 21-15. North Greenville tried to fight back, but was unable to complete the comeback, dropping the set 25-20.

NGU was not able to get much going in the second set, scoring consecutive points just once. Leading 14-9, LMU then went on a 7-2 run, and went on to win the set 25-14.

Set three began slowly for the Crusaders as the Bears began with a 12-3 lead. Although North Greenville was able to put together a 5-1 run to cut the deficit to five later in the set, Lenoir-Rhyne responded with a 5-0 run to put the set out of reach and ultimately won it 25-13.

Up next for the Crusaders is their only home match for the month of September. They will face the Tigers of Benedict College on Tuesday, September 10th.
