Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville seniors came up big with a 3-1 victory over the Mount Olive Trojans on Friday. The teams split the first two sets before the Crusaders cruised to easy wins in the final two sets to get the win. Senior Courtney Williamson had a standout performance coming up with 11 kills.
It was neck and neck as both teams traded leads throughout the first half of the set. By the 13th point North Greenville started building their lead and never let go as they took the first set 25-15.
The Crusaders jumped out to a quick 2-point lead before UMO fought back to tie it 4-4. From there it went back and forth until the trojans went on a seven-point scoring run, never looking back and taking set two 25-18.
In set 3 it was the trojans who jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead. North Greenville played catch-up most of the set until tying it up at 10. From there NGU built up momentum and ultimately took the set 25-19.
The final set stayed close until senior Johna Robbins went on a 4-point serving effort before being helped out by Paige Beisecker, who went on a 5-point run of her own. In the end NGU handled business in set 4 winning 25-11 and sealing the match 3-1.
Katie McManaway led the way for the crusaders racking up 13 kills and 38 attacks.
Senior Courtney Williamson also came up big posting 11 kills of her own and 34 attacks.
Seniors Sara Miller and Eaden Shockley posted strong performances, recording 25 assists and 21 assists respectively.
NGU will be back in action tomorrow night in Tigerville as they take on Barton College at 6 P.M. in their final home game of the season.
