The Crusaders began their busy weekend with a 3-0 victory over the Lees-McRae Bobcats in Banner Elk, NC. Now with a conference record of 4-3, North Greenville currently holds sole possession of third place in the South Division of the Conference Carolinas standings.
NGU trailed by as much as three early on in the set, but would then go on a 7-0 run to take the lead and never look back. Lees-McRae was able to close the deficit late in the set thanks to a 5-0 run, but the Crusaders were able to hang on to win the set 25-21.
North Greenville began the set with a 4-0 run. The Bobcats came back to even the score 10-10 and again at 17-17. However, NGU would control the remainder of the set, scoring 8 of the final 12 points to take the set 25-21.
Another strong start to the set by the Crusaders allowed them to score 12 of the first 15 points. The issue was never in doubt as North Greenville ended the match with a dominating set score of 25-14.
Annie Beisecker began the weekend with a strong performance, leading the Crusaders in kills (9) and attack percentage (421).
Emma Pepper led North Greenville in total attacks (23) and collected 7 kills.
Sara Miller had a strong overall performance with 7 kills, 16 total attacks, 18 assists, and 13 digs.
NGU will remain on the road to participate in a tri-match tomorrow against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders and the Chowan Hawks in Belmont, North Carolina.
