NGU women's volleyball defeated the Converse Valkyries 3-1 this afternoon in Spartanburg, SC. The Crusaders took the first 2 sets, but Converse fought back in Set 3 to force a 4th Set. North Greenville then went on to dominate the 4th set to make the match final.
Converse took an early 7-2 lead, but North Greenville fought back to eventually tie the set 15-15. The Crusdaers would then take the momentum and win the set 25-23.
The teams would go back and forth in Set 2. NGU's largest lead was at the very end of the setwith a 25-20 win.
Converse led all of Set 3. The Crusaders never gave the Valkyries a comfortable lead, but were not able to even up the score. The set would end with Converse taking the set 25-18.
NGU began the set with a 7-1 run. Converse was able to get back into the set, but a 7-point run in the middle of the set helped the Crusaders win the set 25-13 and the match.
Annie Beisecker led in kills with 15 and total attacks with 50.
Courtney Williamson had another strong match with 14 kills and 46 attacks.
Sara Miller provided 15 digs and 28 assists.
North Greenville will host a tri-match Saturday, September 15th against the Southern Wesleyan Warriors and the Augusta Jaguars.
