NGU Splits Second Day of Fleet Classic Tournament

The North Greenville Crusaders split the second and final day of the Fleet Classic Tournament with a 3-1 match win against the University of Virginia at Wise and a 3-0 loss against the Francis Marion Patriots. After the results of the tournament, the Crusaders now have an overall record of 5-3 for the season.


Match 1

Set 1 was a struggle initially by NGU, trailing as much as 7. However, the Crusaders stormed back with a 15-7 run to claim Set 1 25-21.

Set 2 resulted in a close battle as neither team would lead by more than 5. The Crusaders led by 2 late in the match, but UVA-Wise ultimately took the set 26-24.

Set 3 began with an early lead by NGU. UVA-Wise came back to tie the set at 10-10. The rest of the set was played close until the end with North Greenville winning in extra points 26-24.

Set 4 started off competitive, but a 16-6 run by NGU would put the match to rest with the set ending 25-13.

Courtney Williamson had a dominant performance against UVA Wise with 16 kills and 16 digs.

Eaden Shockley continues to play strong with 49 assists and 11 digs against Virginia Wise.

Annie Beisecker produced 13 kills and 29 total attacks.


Match 2

Set 1 required extra points and saw no more than a 4 point lead for either team. The Bearcats pulled ahead to take the set 26-24.

Set 2 started off very competitive with a 5-5 tie, but Lander put together a strong performance late in the set and won it 25-21.

Set 3 was the same result as things started off even, but LU would lead by as much as 8, and won the set 25-17 to win the match.

Erin Allen led the Crusaders with 11 kills and 28 total attacks.

Eaden Shockley was highly productive with 12 digs and 29 assists.

Courtney Williamson finished the match with 27 total attacks.



Next up for NGU  will be their next tournament at Converse College at Spartanburg, SC.
