Threat of Hurricane Irma forces change in volleyball schedule

Tigerville, S.C. – Hurricane Irma has forced a change in the women’s volleyball schedule as the Crusaders will no longer travel to Florida to play in the Flagler Saints Classic.

North Greenville was scheduled to be one of four teams in St. Augustine this weekend but the threat of Hurricane Irma, a category five storm is threatening the state of Florida and the eastern seaboard, causing mandatory evacuations.

"While we enjoy watching our teams compete, the safety of our players is our first priority," remarked athletic director Jan McDonald. "With their wellbeing in mind, We felt that it was in our player's best interest to find an alternative to this weekend's scheduled matches."

The Crusaders will still play one of the teams they were scheduled to play this weekend, traveling to Wingate, North Carolina to take on the Bulldogs on Friday night at 8 pm.
