Crusaders fall to Erskine on Friday night

Due West, S.C. – North Greenville dropped to 17-9 overall and 6-6 in Conference Carolinas play following a 3-1 (13-25, 20-25, 25-21, 18-25) to Erskine College.

Brittany Tepedino led the Crusaders with 13-kills. Madison Pogue quarterbacked the offense with 35-assists while Haley Hester disked out three service aces. Eve Little led defensively with 19-digs while Pogue had 15 and Kenzie Pierce had 14-digs respectively.

The Crusaders struggled offensively on Friday night, hitting at just a .071 clip. NGU had 38-kills and 26 errors during the four set defeat on 168-attempts. The Fleet also had a sub-par night, hitting just .226 as a team with 57-kills and 19-errors.

The Crusaders fell behind two sets to none but cut the deficit in half with a win in the third set. NGU trailed early in the frame but battled back from six points down to even the score at 10-10. The rest of the set was closely contested until the Crusaders took a 22-19 lead. NGU would win three of the next five points including an ace from Haley Hester and two kills from Samantha Hebb to take the set and cut the Fleet lead to 2-1.

The Flying Fleet would respond with a win in the fourth set to put the Crusaders away. NGU led early on but the Fleet came on strong in the final half of the set to earn the conference win, scoring five of the final seven points to earn their second win over NGU this season.

The Crusaders will travel to Emmanuel College on Saturday for a 2pm game with the Lions followed by a November 1st matchup with Limestone at 7pm.
