Central, S.C.—The North Greenville Volleyball team fell to 15-9 overall, and 2-6 in Conference Carolinas play after losing to Southern Wesleyan University 3-0, on the road.
The Crusaders played stroke for stroke with the 9-1 Warriors for much of the first set, even leading the frame 4-3 in the early goings. The Warriors would lead by as many as five during the frame, as NGU trailed 18-13 at the midway point, but the Crusaders fought back to pull to within two of the homestanding Warriors at 20-18. SWU would outscore North Greenville 5-2 however in the final seven points, using two NGU attack errors to win the set 25-20.
The Crusaders would not fare much better in the second and third sets, as Southern Wesleyan proved why they were one of the top teams in Conference Carolinas. The Warriors took the match with wins in sets two and three by scores of 25-14 and 25-12. The Crusaders struggled on offense with a hitting percentage of just .092. The Crusaders collected four assisted and one solo block on defense, with 36 digs.
Yomi Adeyeye once again led the Crusaders with nine kills, while Taylor Dupes added five. Hannah Lewis led the defense with 10 digs, while Kenzie Pierce, Megan Steading, and Jenna Farrato all had a service ace. The Crusaders will be back in action on October 28th when they travel to Converse College for a 7pm match with the Valkyries.
