CRUSADERS GEARING UP FOR CONFERENCE CAROLINAS FIRST ROUND

The North Greenville volleyball team has fought its way into the Conference Carolinas postseason tournament for the second straight season, which opens up play tomorrow afternoon.

The Crusaders will take on the #1 seed in the tournament, Belmont Abbey which also dawns the Crusader mascot. North Greenville is 0-2 against Abbey, dropping decisions of 3-0 and 3-1, but will look to reverse fortunes tomorrow afternoon in Belmont, North Carolina.

The Crusaders are led by junior Elizabeth James, and sophomore Yomi Adeyeye. James leads NGU with 808 assists on the season, while Adeyeye is NGU’s offensive leader with 333 kills on the season. James ranks fourth in Conference Carolinas with 6.31 assists per set while Adeyeye is third in league play in total kills. NGU will also need help from two freshmen in Hannah helbert and Rachel Burts.

On the backline, Codiann Amis leads the way with 345 (5th in Conference Carolinas) digs on the season. Amis gets some help from Elizabeth James who is second on the team with 253 digs, while Gabby Sehres leads the defense at the net with 16 solo blocks and 54 assisted stoppers.
