GAFFNEY, SC: The Lady Saints volleyball team convincingly defeated the Crusaders of North Greenville College 3-0 (30-19, 30-25, 30-15) for their third straight victory.

Limestone has now won 9 games in a row. Tonight, the Lady Saints got off to a great start in game one and kept the pressure on throughout the match. In game two, North Greenville put up a great effort, but the Lady Saints remained focused to come out with the win. Playing in her first collegiate match, freshman Alison Hamilton recorded 25 assists, as well as 4 service aces. Melissa Thomas, also a freshman, had a solid night at the middle and outside hitting positions recording 11 kills.

Head Coach Tim Loesch was pleased with how his team played hard all night, especially during the close second game. “I was very proud to see the team working hard to comeback from a point deficit during game two.” Loesch also praised Hamilton and several others for their contributions during the match. “Alison set a terrific first college game, and we had great passing from Amber Wise, Meredith Overton, Shannon Zehr, and Julie Oleson. The fan support tonight was also great to see.”

Several members of the Saints wrestling team arrived just before the start of game two, with “GO LIMESTONE SAINTS” painted on their chests, as well as “#40” in memory of Molly Williams, a Limestone basketball player who passed away last Thursday. The vocal crowd cheered and chanted enthusiastically throughout the remainder of the match.

The Lady Saints return Timken Gym at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday September 8th for their first conference match of the season.
