David Pickett is in his second year at NGU as the assistant coach for track & field. He oversees the sprints, hurdles and jumps.

In his first season, Pickett coached JJ Sherman to All-American honors in the 60-meter dash (4th place). In addition, he guided 13 individuals to 42 personal bests including Sherman (60m, 6.71), and conference champions Tevin Richardson (400m, 47.33) and Shekinah Wilder (TJ, 38' 9.5").

Pickett’s event groups broke 13 school records while three of his athletes set NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in six different events. He also had four athletes earn All-Academic honors by USTFCCCA and the Conference Carolinas in 2017.

Pickett comes to North Greenville after three seasons at Milligan College where he coached a conference champion, multiple all-conference performers, and several school record holders in the sprints and hurdles. He was also instrumental in the women's team winning the AAC Outdoor Championship in 2014. Along with his coaching duties, Pickett lectured in the Human Performance and Exercise Science Department at Milligan.

Prior to his stint at Milligan, Pickett spent a season at East Tennessee State University as a volunteer assistant, working with the sprinters and hurdlers. While under the tutelage of Brandon Morton, he assisted in the coaching of six conference champions, 16 all-conference performers, three NCAA East Regional Qualifiers and two All-Academic performers. In addition, he co-coached a women's 4 x 100 relay team that earned All-American honors at the NCAA DI Championships.

Pickett is a 2010 graduate of UNC Asheville where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness and was a top five all-time performer in the 60 meters. He holds a Master’s in Kinesiology and Sport Management from ETSU, and is a USATF Level 2 Coach in the sprints, hurdles and relays.
