CRUSADERS HAVE MANY FIRST PLACE FINISHES IN STRONG SHOWING AT THE PALMETTO CLASSIC

Mount Pleasant, S.C. - The North Greenville Crusaders Track and Field teams had their strongest showing of the young season at The Palmetto Classic on Friday, March 6.

On the men's side of the track event Devin Wannamaker was able to win the 100m dash (10.80), and the 110m hurdles (14.99). Ahmad Nesbitt being the next Crusader to be able to bring home two first place finishes in the 1 mile run (4:22.99), as well as the 5000m run (15:04.77). Tre' Black would be able to bring home a first place finish in the 800m run (1:59.70), and fellow teammate Jordan Sumpter won the 400m event (51.00). Sumpter also placed second in the 200m dash (23.09). Rounding out the single competitor wins would be Jordan Ferguson in the 3000m Steeplechase (10:15.75). The relay teams of North Greenville would not be out done as they swept both events. In the 4X100 event would be Tre' Black, Chanti Jones, Jonathan Williams, and Jordan Sumpter (44.80). In the 4X400 event for your Crusaders would be Trae Bonner, Ravon Wamer, Jordan Sumpter, and Jonathan Williams (3:24.86).

The women of North Greenville would not let the guys be the only ones in the spotlight for the day. Leah Austin would get the ladies out to a good start winning the 200m dash (26.65), and a third place finish in the 100 meter dash (13.08). Ambria Shaw would follow up the great performance by Austin in the 400m winning this event for the Crusaders (1:03.17). Zoe Engwall would have a third place finish in the 800m dash (2:31.83). Amanda Ward would come up big in the distance runs with a first place finish in the 5000m dash (19:24.15), and a fifth place finish in the 1 mile run (5:37.11). In the 400m Hurdles Anel Miranda-Smith would finish first (1:12.08). Yet again the Crusader relay team for the women would come in first in the 4X400 (4:13.68) which would consist of Leah Austin, Georgia Delts, Shiobhan Fraser, and Ambria Shaw.

The field events would bring home many first place finishes as well, and just have an overall strong showing in the event. On the men's side Terry Davis would continue his strong season winning the long jump (7.03m), and a first place finish in the triple jump (13.72m). Kreig Lowe would place first in the shot put event (14.46m), a first place finish in the discus throw (37.85m), and a second place finish in the Hammer Throw (40.44m). Jared Bolin would round out the men's side of the field event with a second place finish in Pole Vault (3.69m). As before in the track events the women's side of the field events would not be out done. Shiobhan Frasier would begin the day off with a first place finish in the high jump (1.57m). Zoe Engwall would follow up Frasier's performance with a second place finish in the Pole Vault (3.00m). Tracy Oyugi would have a fifth place finish in the Shot Put event (10.42m). Emily Bryant would have a fourth place finish in the Discus Throw (27.29m).

Your Crusaders had a strong showing at the Palmetto Classic and will compete again on March 20-21 in the Charlotte 49er Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina.
