Central, S.C. – North Greenville trailed the Warriors after doubles play but stormed back to take four singles matches en route to a 5-4 win over Southern Wesleyan University.
North Greenville’s only win in doubles came from Christina Keissling and Kylie Sandusky as they earned an 8-3 victory. The Warriors won the second and third doubles with scores of 8-6 and 8-4 to take a 2-1 lead into singles.
The outlook began to look a little darker for the Crusaders after the Warriors took a 3-1 lead following a 6-2/6-3 win in the fifth position. North Greenville players maintained composure though and reeled off three consecutive victories to take a 4-3 advantage. Keissling got the rally started with a 6-3/6-3 win while Fernanda de Lucca and Camille Duhan tacked on a pair of wins.
The Saturday showdown would come down to the final match after Southern Wesleyan evened the score at 4-4 with a 7-5/6-4 win in the fourth spot. NGU’s Faith Moyer came through in the clutch for the Crusaders, securing the victory, coming back to win her singles frame 4-6/7-5/6-0.
The Crusaders improve to 5-7 overall and 4-1 in league player after Saturday's win. NGU will host Limestone College on March 18th at 1:30pm.
