Tigerville, S.C. – Women’s tennis earned its second Conference Carolinas win of the season Saturday with an 8-1 route of Converse College.
The Crusaders improved to 2-1 in league play and 3-7 overall on the season with the win over the Valkyries. North Greenville pulled two of three in doubles play to take a one-point lead heading into singles.
Faith Moyers and Graysen Elms clocked the first point of the day with an impressive 8-1 win while Christina Kiessling and Kylie Sandusky secured the NGU lead with an 8-5 victory. The Valkyries win came in the second position with an 8-5 look.
The momentum from the tandem matches carried over into singles play. Graysen Elms put NGU on the board first as she cruised to a 6-0/6-0 victory. Camille Duhan bounced back from a doubles loss to take her solo frame 6-3/6-1, putting the Crusaders one win away from clinching the match at 4-1.
The game clincher came from Duhan’s doubles partner Fernanda de Lucca who also rebounded nicely from a tough doubles loss. De Lucca clinched the match for North Greenville in the third position with a 6-0/6-0 win. The Crusaders also got wins from Kylie Sandusky (6-1/6-2), Faith Moyers (6-3/6-2) and Christina Kiessling (6-3/6-3).
The Crusaders will continue with their Conference Carolinas schedule on March 8th when they host Erskine College at 2pm in Tigerville.
