Crusaders drop non-conference match to Newberry

Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville women’s tennis dropped its first match of the season on Friday as the Newberry Wolves earned a 7-2 victory over the Crusaders in non-conference action.

The Wolves took an early lead after taking two of three doubles matches. NGU’s only win during tandem play came from Fernanda de Lucca and Kylie Sandusky who took a 9-7 decision. Newberry took decisions of 1-8 and 3-8 in the first and third doubles.

NGU’s only other win on Friday came from Faith Moyers who earned a 6-2/6-0 victory in her singles match. The Wolves earned victories in spots 1-5 with scores of 4-6/7-6/3-10, 4-6/4-6, 6-2/1-6/6-7, and 4-6/1-6. The Wolves tacked on one more victory in the final match with a 0-6/2-6 victory.

The Crusaders will be back in action on February 21st when they travel to Wofford College for a 2pm first serve.
