Crusaders fall to Flying Fleet in Conference Carolinas tennis action

Due West, S.C. – North Greenville men’s tennis earned a 6-3 win over Erskine College on Saturday afternoon while the women’s team fell to the Fleet 9-0.

The NGU women were swept in doubles play as the Flying Fleet earned wins of 8-2, 8-7, and 8-1.

In singles play, Camille Duhan fell 6-3/6-3, Christina Kiessling lost 6-4/6-1, and Maria Vargas dropped a 6-4/6-1 decision. Erskine would go on to take the last three singles matches by scores of 6-4/6-4 over Kylie Sandusky, 6-0/6-2 over Fernanda Santos de Lucca, and 6-3/3-6/11-9 over Graysen Elms.

The men earned a 2-0 leaver the Fleet after doubles wins from Sjors van Eck and Sergio Araujo won 8-2 while Edmundo Torres and Marcelo Yshikawa earned an 8-1 decision.

The Crusaders took four of the six doubles competitions led by van Eck who won his match 6-1/6-3 and Jose Gomez who won his match 6-4/6-7(7-5)/6-2. Yshikawa earned the match winner in the fifth position with a 4-6/6-1/6-1 win. Edmundo Torres finished the day off with a 6-1/6-2 win.

 

The Crusaders will wrap up the 2016 regular season at 12pm against Pfeiffer University.
