Spartanburg, S.C. - North Greenville women's tennis picked up its first win of 2016 on Tuesday afternoon with an 8-1 defeat of Converse College.
The Crusaders swept through double's play to take a 3-0 lead over the Valkyries. Camille Duhan and Christina Kiessling got things started with an 8-4 win while Maria Vargas and Kylie Sandusky made the score 2-0 with a dominating 8-1 win in their tandem match. Fernanda Santos de Lucca and Kelley Chapman wrapped up the sweep with an 8-7(4) win over their Converse counter parts.
The momentum carried into singles play for NGU as Camille Duhan got things started for NGU with a 6-0/6-1 win. Maria Vargas and Christina Kiessling picked up a pair of wins with scores of 6-3/6-1 and 6-0/6-1 while Kylie Sandusky picked up 6-3/6-1 win. Fernanda Santos de Lucca wrapped up NGU's wins with a 6-0/6-0 win.
The Crusaders are now 1-5 on the season and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas play. NGU will host Brevard College on March 17th at 2pm at Vance Tennis Center.
