Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Men's and Women's Tennis Teams were swept by Conference Carolinas leading Mount Olive on Friday afternoon 8-1 and 6-3 at Vance Tennis Complex.
The NGU women scored just one win in doubles play as the Trojans earned a 2-1 lead heading into singles. Camille Duhan and Christina Kiesling picked up North Greenville's only win with an 8-4 that evened the score a 1-1 for the time being.
Mount Olive would secure the conference win over NGU winning the first four sets in singles. The Crusaders' only wins in the one-on-ones would be from Aline Ribiero who won 7-5/6-2 and Ann Hayden Huxford who came out on top of a 6-3/6-1 decision. The Women fall to 5-2 in Conference Carolinas play after Saturday's loss.
The NGU Men's Team was outmatched by the league leading Trojans who stayed undefeated in league play after Friday. The Crusaders were swept in doubles play as Mount Olive took an 8-4 victory and a pair of 8-1 wins.
North Greenville's only win came from Jose Gomez in singles play. Gomez earned a 6-0/5-7/10-6 win in the solo portion of Friday's match to give NGU its only point of the day. The loss to the Trojans is the first league loss of the year for the men's team which now sits at 6-1 on the season.
NGU will have little time to rest as the Crusaders welcome Barton College to Tigerville on Saturday for a 1pm match with the Bulldogs.
