Tigerville, S.C.—NGU Women's Tennis fell to 3-5 on the season after a 6-3 loss to Carson Newman, Wednesday afternoon at Vance Tennis Complex.
The Eagles picked up a slim lead after double's competition as they earned two of three decisions over NGU. Christina Kiessling and Camille Duhan won the only tandem set for the Crusaders with an 8-6 win over their Carson Newman counter parts. The teams of Vargas/Beacham and Huxford/Ribeiro both fell 8-3.
Kiessling completed a 2-0 day after earning a 6-4/5-1 win singles play. Aline Ribeiro scored NGU's only other win of the day with a 2-6/6-3/10-6 win in singles. Maria Vargas fell 5-7/6-4/10-9 while Rebecca Beacham lost a 6-3/6-0 singles game. Camille Duhan and Ann Hayden Huxford also had a tough go in singles losing 6-0/6-0 and 6-4/6-1.
The Crusaders will take on King University on March 20th at 2pm in the third Conference Carolinas match of the semester.
