Mars Hill, N.C.—The North Greenville women’s tennis team dropped a non-conference game to Mars Hill University on Tuesday evening falling to the Lions 7-2 in non-conference road action.

Mars Hill gained a quick 3-0 lead after singles play after sweeping the Crusaders in three straight games. Maggie Elliot and Susane Lenz fell in a closely fought game dropping an 8-7 with a 7-5 tie breaker. The Lions would then cruise to an 8-2 win over Aline Ribeiro and Rebecca Beacham by a score of 8-2. MHU finished off the pairs sweep with a 8-6 win over Ann Hayden Huxford and Haley Hardwick.

NGU’s two wins on Tuesday came in singles play. Rebecca Beacham earned a 6-2/7-6(8-6) win over Jade Henke, while Haley Hardwick put together a winning performance with a 6-1 win over Luz Heilman. The wins were too late for NGU however, as the Lions won the first three singles sets to take a 6-0 lead. Lucy McLaurin earned the clinching win for the Lions as she beat Elliot 6-3/6-0 to take a 5-0 lead.

The Crusaders fall to 2-15 on the season, with six more matches before post season play. NGU will retake the court on April 10th when it will play host to Lander University at the Greer Tennis center in Greer, South Carolina.
