Greer, S.C.—The North Greenville women’s tennis team fell to 1-13 overall on the season on Thursday night, falling to Lenoir-Ryne 7-2 in late week non-conference action.
The Crusaders picked up their only two points of the day in doubles action as North Greenville took a 2-1 lead. Aline Ribeiro and Rebecca Beacham got North Greenville on the board with an 8-4 win over Brown and Lapp from LR, while Erin Grimsley Ann Hayden Huxford gained the Crusaders the overall point advantage after their 8-6 triumph over Bryan and Liner.
Erin Grimsley and Ann Hayden Huxford’s win in doubles play would cap the wins for NGU on Thursday however, as the Bears would go on to sweep singles play. The Crusaders would drop three of the six singles games in -three sets. Aline Ribeiro (3-6/7-6/7-6), Maggie Elliott (6-7/6-4/6-2), and Ann Hayden Huxford (3-6/6-3/10-4) all fell in tough fought three set games. Also falling in singles play was Susane Lenz (6-2/6-0), Rebecca Beacham (6-3/6-3) and Haley Hardwick (6-3/6-1).
The Crusaders, 1-4 in Conference Carolinas play will travel to Belmont, North Carolina on Saturday for a league showdown with Belmont Abbey College. NGU and BAC are scheduled for a 12pm first serve.
