Spartanburg, S.C.—The North Greenville women’s team took on its third division I opponent on Tuesday afternoon, continuing a difficult early 2014 season. The Crusaders fell to the Wofford Terriers 7-0, dropping NGU to 0-7 on the season.
The Terriers proved too strong for NGU on Tuesday, as the Crusaders failed to score more than two points in each singles set. Rebecca Beacham accounted for the most offense, but dropped her singles match 6-2, 6-2. Maggie Elliot fell in her singles competition 6-1, 6-2, while Erin Grimsley, Susane Lenz, and Aline Ribiero all dropped 6-0, 6-1 decisisons. Christina Kiessling dropped her singles frame 6-0, 6-0.
The outlook was much the same in doubles, as the Crusaders were once again swept. The team of Lenz and Elliot put together the most complete performance, but fell 8-6. Ribeiro and Kiessling fell in their doubles match 8-3 while Beacham and Grimsley fell 8-1. NGU will open Conference Carolinas play on Friday when Pfeiffer comes to Greer for a 1pm first serve.
