CRUSADERS STILL SEARCHING FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON

Boiling Springs, N.C.—The North Greenville women’s tennis team fell to 0-5 on the season Saturday afternoon, dropping a double header to Wingate and Gardner Webb Universities by scores of 5-0 to Wingate, and 7-0 to Gardner Webb. The Crusaders continue to search for their first wins of the season, being swept in the singles and doubles matches in both games on Saturday. Susane Lenz put together a solid effort against Wingate, but fell to Evers 6-3 and 4-4 (DNF). Maggie Elliot also came up short in her singles competition dropping a 6-2/6-1 decision. The Crusaders continued their struggles in the doubles matches, dropping all three of the pairs competitions by scores of 8-3, 8-1, and 8-3. NGU looked to right the ship in the second match of the day against NCAA Division I opponent Gardner Webb University. The Running Bulldogs are the second D-I opponent the women have played this season, but the result would remain the same. The Crusaders were swept in singles and doubles once again, as Gardner Webb proved too much for North Greenville. Lenz once again turned in the most competitive performance of the match vs. Gardner web, but still came up short, losing 6-1 6-3. The Crusaders lost three sets by a count of 6-0/6-0, a score of 6-0/6-2, and a 6-1/6-0 decisison. The Crusaders would also drop their doubles matches by scores of 8-3, 8-1, and 8-1. The Crusaders will return home on February 12th, when they host Lander University, in Greer, South Carolina.
