CRUSADERS DROP OPENING MATCH TO LANDER

Greenwood, S.C.—The North Greenville women’s tennis team opened up the 2012 season Saturday, falling to Lander University 9-0.

In singles, No. 1 Aurelia Ruffat (L) def. Susane Lenz (NG), 5-7, 6-4 (10-4); No. 2 Eliza Adusumilli (L) def. Aline Ribeiro (NG), 6-0, 6-2; No. 3 Brandi Cordell (L) def. Muriel Adib (NG), 6-1, 6-1; No. 4 Cayce Bradley (L) def. Cassie Curtis (NG), 6-0, 6-2; No. 5 Raissa Adusumilli (L) def. Rebecca Beacham (NG), 6-0, 6-0; and No. 6 Lori Flick (L) def. Haley Hardwick (NG), 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, No. 1 Ruffat/Bradley (L) def. Lenz/Adib (NG), 8-2; No. 2 E. Adusumilli/Cordell (L) def. Ribeiro/Curtis (NG), 8-1; and No. 3 James/R.Adusumilli (L) def. Beachman/Gomez (NG), 8-0.

The loss to the Bearcats drops the Crusaders to 0-1 on the season. The Crusaders will open up conference play on February 7th against Coker College at 3:30 pm.
