NGU TENNIS TEAMS SWEEP KING COLLEGE

Bristol, TN – The North Greenville men’s and women’s tennis teams produced a rare sweep of matches on the same day by downing future Conference Carolinas foe King College 6-3 and 7-2 respectively. 

 
The men’s team won two of the three doubles matches, taking the #1 and #3 spots, and captured singles wins at number three through six.  Timur Kamilov and Luis Campos won at #1 doubles 8-5, and Thomas Clack and Marcos Souza took #3 8-3.  Luis Campos won at #3 singles 7-5, 6-2, Fred Vieira won at #4 6-0, 7-5, Marcos Souza took #5 7-5, 6-3, and Hugo Ciarrocchi won at #6 6-2, 6-4.  Timur Kamilov was downed at #1 2-6, 4-6, and Kesha Sedov lost at #2 4-6, 6-7.
The NGU men evened its season record at 2-2.
The North Greenville women took two of three doubles as well, and dominated in singles, winning five of the six matches.  Susan Lynn and Katherine Shaw won easily at #1 8-2, and Natalie Stewart and Salem Erni won #3 8-0.  In singles, Lynn was defeated 1-6, 1-6 at #1, but Erni won at #2 6-3 6-2, Shaw took #3 6-3, 6-2, Cassie Curtis contributed mightily at #4 with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory, Sarah Stanga won at #5 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, and Stewart won #6 3-6, 6-0, 10-3. 
The Crusader women also evened their season mark at 2-2.
Coach Mark Elliot proclaimed that today’s match sweep by both the North Greenville men’s and women’s is something that doesn’t happen too often.  “It was a very satisfying victory because everyone on both teams had a hand in it,” Elliot noted.  “It’s not often that we both win on the same day, so you have to be very proud.”
