This afternoon, the women’s tennis team moved from the 500-bench mark to a winning record of 2-1. The Crusaders defeated Spartanburg Methodist with a win of 8-1. They went three for three in doubles and all but one of the singles matches were triumphant as well.
“Courtney Lynn impressed me with her level of play today – she played well in her doubles match and her singles match,” said Coach Mark Elliot.
Sophomore Natalie Stewart played and won her debut spring game as Lynn’s doubles partner in the number three slot.
The women will be in Greer, SC tomorrow, Feb. 14 for their next home match against Lander University. Lander University is one of the top NCAA division II teams in the nation. The Crusader women beat them in a close match two years ago and lost to them in a close match last season. With the new “depth” Coach Elliot says the women have acquired this season and being so closely matched with Lander in the past, the Crusaders should have a good shot at another “ W.”
