Tate started here college goalkeeper career at the College of Charleston in 2009, helping the Cougars to the SoCon Tournament finals with a record of 8-3-0 in conference. Katie started 7 games in the net for the lady Cougars, ranked 1st in the SoCon in GAAvg, allowing only 2 goals and a GAAvg of 0.38. She finished her freshman year with a clean sheet record of 4 shutouts, playing 843:05 minutes in goal helping Charleston finished its season with a tie for the most conference wins and the highest seed in the conference tournament in school history.

Katie led the CofC women’s team again in 2010 in a successful season, starting 13 games and earning 6 shutouts her sophomore year. Tate finished her playing career at the College of Charleston in 2012 with 84 saves and a career record of 10-9-3. 

Tate joined the NGU women’s soccer team in 2013, leading the Crusaders to a 7-10-0 overall record, as a captain of the team, with 94 saves. NGU finished conference play with a record of 4-5-0 advancing to the finals in the 2013 Conference Carolinas Tournament.

Junior keeper Katie Tate was also honored on the All-Conference Second Team, starting 15 games in goal and recording a school-record 94 saves in 1,361:41 minutes played. Tate also finished among the top of the conference in goals against average (1.65) and save percentage (.790).

Tate finished her NGU soccer career in 2015 playing in 1962:62 minutes, 21 starts, and 153 total saves.

Coach Katie Tate is not only coaching the women’s NGU goalkeepers, but is also currently a youth coach for Soccer Shots, a goalkeeper trainer at CESA and provides private keeper training for local players in Upstate, SC.
