Tigerville – Women’s soccer fired off 17-shots on frame and found the back of the net three times in a shut-out of Columbia International.
The Crusaders forced the action from the opening kickoff, forcing CIU keeper Naia Threatt to make four saves in the opening 10-minutes. Karly Denaburg fired off a shot of her own which clipped the crossbar early in the contest.
The first went scoreless but North Greenville drew first blood in the 45th minute when Ariana Parsons took a pass from Kayla Cruse and put it in for the first goal of the season. Kayla Cruse was credited with the assist. North Greenville continued to force the issue and the pressure eventually paid off with the second score of the night.
Mackenie Neff scored her first goal of the season from the top of the box assisted by Megan Biehl to make it 2-0. In the end, Threatt ended the night with 14-saves with three goals against. On the home side, Brianna Rowe earned her first win of the season in goal and was unblemished for 90-minutes. She saved four shots. North Greenville’s defense held the Rams to just four shots on goal.
North Greenville improved to 1-0 on the year after the non-conference win. The Crusaders will take on Erskine College on Saturday at 1 PM in the first Conference Carolinas match of the season.
