North Greenville began conference play with a 3-2 win over the Erskine Flying Fleet. The Crusaders were the first team on the boardwith a goal in the 1st half. Erskine scored 2 unanswered to take the lead, but NGU was able to connect for 2 unanswered goals of their own to take the win.
NGU put up the first shot of the game just a minute into the match. Mary Courtney Puryear scored her first goal of the season in the 19th minute of play. Erskine responded with an equalizer goal by Hayden Banks in the 38th minute. The Crusaders edged the fleet in shots with 6 in the half. NGU also led in corner kicks with 8.
Erskine's Maddi Cole scored an early goal with the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Approximately 8 minutes later, the Crusaders tied the game when Asheton Robinson found the back of the net. Her sister, Abby Robinson, would also find it about 9 minutes later to give North Greenville a 3-2 lead. Erskine would record 3 shots...and 2 yellow cards to end the match, but NGU held on for the win.
Mary Courtney Puryear scored a goal and recorded 3 shots with 2 on goal.
Asheton Robinson came through for a goal and an assist.
Abby Robinson put together a goal and 2 shots.
The Crusaders will continue conference play Tuesday, September 11 against the Lees-McRae Bobcats.
