Tigerville, SC - North Greenville put together an impressive offensive performance in an overtime 3-2 victory over the Milligan College Buffaloes. The Crusaders recorded a staggering 27 shots with 16 of those being on goal.
Milligan struck first in the 27th minute with a penalty kick goal by Isabella Cranford. The Buffalo lead did not last long as a penalty kick goal by Sarah Hazelwood evened the match. NGU dominated the 1st half in shots with 11 while Milligan managed just 1.
North Greenville took the lead early in the 2nd half when Kayla Cruse scored a goal with an assist by Karly Denaburg. The Buffalo fought back with a game-tying goal by Bekah Cundiff. NGU put together 13 shots in the 2nd half, but were unable to connect for the game-winning goal. Overtime would be needed.
MU began with the momentum in overtime, but the Crusaders quickly took over. With less than two minutes remaining in the 1st overtime period, Kayla Cruse put the game away with a goal. Megan Biehl provided the assist.
Kayla Cruse scored 2 goals including the game-winner. Her 3 total shots were all on goal.
Karly Denaburg recorded a team-leading 6 shots and provided an assist.
Megan Biehl had a solid performance with 5 shots and an assist.
The Crusaders will head to Aiken, SC to play the Pacers of USC Aiken in the first road game of the season on Wednesday, September 5th at 6:00 PM.
