Tigerville, S.C. - The second annual NGU Spring 7v7 tournament was a complete success. Beautiful weather, lots of fans, and great match-ups made the day run smoothly for all involved. Teams traveled from all over the southeast to compete in a the day tournament. South Atlantic Conference, Division II Carson Newman University took home the gold. They played six, thirty-six-minute games on the day and beat East Tennessee University in overtime of the championship game. It was a real nail-biter and the level of competition was incredible.
The NGU Women’s team entered two teams into the tournament. One of the teams advanced to the tournament, and dropped to ETSU in the semifinals. Along the way they beat cross-town rival Anderson University and Big South conference, Division I school, USC Upstate. It was a great time for the girls and the program celebrated some big wins throughout the day.
This is an event the program plans on continuing each year, hoping it can only get better. To the fans and supporters, thank you for giving up your beautiful Spring Saturday to watch soccer and give back to the game. The players, and coaches are grateful for the turnout and support their teams receive from the sidelines. See you all next year!
