Tigerville, S.C. - The NGU Women's Soccer Team lost a Conference Carolinas tilt to Belmont Abbey on Tuesday night by a score of 4-0.
Abbey controlled the action for most of the game dishing out 27 total shots.
Belmont Abbey scored early in the game to take a 1-0 lead on a goal from Cassidy Coutinho, in the seventh minute . The Crusaders would stack on one more goal before halftime as Kate Hennessey found the back of the net with 33:50 left on the clock, putting North Greenville in a 2-0 hole.
Two more goals in the second half, both coming with around 60-minutes left in the game, earned Abbey the 4-0 cushion. NGU had a couple chances late in the half but Megan Bowen of BAC picked up her two saves to preserve the shutout.
NGU Keeper Madelynn Schober was solid in goal for the Crusaders, despite the lopsided score. Schober had a career and season high for saves with 17 while also setting a new school record for saves in a single game.
The Crusaders will play one more regular season game before moving on to the Conference Carolinas Playoffs. NGU will host Barton College Saturday at 1pm in Pepsi Stadium.
