North Greenville notched another crucial conference win tonight while honoring lone senior Kathryn Allen, taking down the Southern Wesleyan University Warriors by a score of 3-0.
The Crusaders dominated the opening 30 minutes but couldn't find a goal until Lindsay Tuten finally broke through. Alex Pagliaro got the assist and helped make the score 1-0 in the 32nd minute. North Greenville capitalized on the momentum and grabbed a quick second goal three minutes later. This time it was Lauren Prevett who scored, putting a shot past Warrior Keeper Courtney McNeil. Once again, Pagliaro was credited with an assist and the Crusaders carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The second half continued in the same fashion as the first, with the Crusaders dominating possession before finally grabbing a third goal. Tuten again found the back of the net, bringing her season total to 16 goals. This third goal would seal the game as the Crusaders saw out the victory.
Tuten's two goals keep her as the top scorer in Conference Carolinas, while Pagliaro got her first two assists of the season. Madelyn Schober spent nearly 60 minutes in goal, recording four saves, while Michelle Huddleston was the Crusader keeper for the rest of the game, recording three saves of her own.
The win takes North Greenville to 8-6 on the season and 4-5 in conference play. The Crusaders return to action on October 27 when they take on Belmont Abbey. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. in Pepsi Stadium.
