The Crusaders and Falcons battled the elements in Tigerville as Pfeiffer took the conference victory by a final score of 4-2.
In a game that had to change venues due to the recent rainfall, the Falcons jumped out to an early lead in the fifth minute. Pfeiffer's Kirsten Martin received a pass from Aaliyah Jackson and put her shot past Crusader keeper Madelynn Schober. The Falcons would add two more goals before the halftime whistle, as Brae Buster scored in the 24th minute and Jackson got a goal of her own in the 25th minute.
North Greenville came out of the half determined to make it a game, and showed some fight. Lindsey Tuten continued to show her scoring prowess, beating the keeper with her first goal of the game in the 56th minute. The Crusaders pressed forward, looking for another goal to bring the game within reach, but could not find the second goal until it was too late. Pfeiffer's Miracle Campbell was able to score the fourth goal for the Falcons in the 82nd to make it 4-1. Tuten responded almost immediately, however, as she scored her second goal of the game in the 83rd minute to make bring the deficit to two goals once more, but the Crusaders could not find another goal.
Tuten's two goals bring her to eight total on the season, tied for the conference high. Alex Pagliaro and Brittany Waldrep were the only other Crusaders to notch shots in the game. Schober finished the day with seven saves in goal.
The loss drops North Greenville to 4-5 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.
The Crusaders return to action on October 3rd when they take on the Columbia International Rams. The non-conference tilt kicks off in Columbia S.C. at 5 p.m.
