Tigerville, S.C. - The North Greenville Women's soccer team improved to 4-4 on the season Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Bob Jones University.
The impromptu game in Tigerville was moved from Bob Jones University Tuesday morning due to wet field conditions at the Bruins home site. NGU welcomed the extra home match, putting together a strong performance.
The Crusaders put pressure on the Bruins defense from the opening whistle, finishing with 11 shots. Lindsay Tuten would lead NGU with six shots while Alex Pagliaro had two. The Crusaders and Bruins took a scoreless tie into halftime as neither team was able to find the net.
Tuten would finally break shutout in the second half when her fifth shot of the night ricocheted off of the BJU keeper's hands to the back of the net to give NGU a 1-0 lead. Bob Jones looked to even the tally late in the match on a couple shots from Natasha Walters but North Greenville Keeper Madelynn Schober finished the game with four saves on the night.
The Crusaders will return to the field on Saturday to take on Pfeiffer in a Conference Carolinas road game at 2pm.
