Gaffney, S.C.—NGU Women's Soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to league leading Limestone on Friday night to fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in Conference Carolinas play.
The Saints scored in the 22nd minute of Friday night's game to take a 1-0 lead over the Crusaders. The Limestone defense also kept NGU's attack in check as the Crusaders failed to get off a shot in the first half. NGU's best chance to score came on a corner kick in the 27th minute but the Crusaders failed to find nylon as the Saints cleared.
North Greenville would find itself in a 2-0 hole midway through the second half as the Saints scored again in the 58th minute on Isadora Hernandez's fourth goal of the year. NGU's best chance to score came in the 68th minute as Sara Forester unleashed a shot, which pegged off the crossbar. Alex Pagliaro had a chance at the rebound but her header sailed just wide of the net, giving Limestone a chance to clear.
Lindsay Tuten also got off two shots in the second half, but Limestone Keeper Mariette Martinez came up with two saves to keep a clean slate. NGU's Madelynn Schober had a busy night as she racked up a career high 14 saves in the net for the Crusaders.
North Greenville will travel to Bob Jones University on September 29th for a 7pm kickoff.
