Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Women's Soccer Team earned its second win of the 2015 season on Wednesday night in a dominating 3-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern of the Peach Belt Conference.
The Crusaders picked up an early 1-0 lead on Lindsay Tuten's second goal of the season. The assist came from Megan Robertson in the 10th minute of Wednesday's non-conference matchup. The Crusaders continued to force the tempo, finishing the half with six shots on goal.
Eventually NGU would capitalize once again as Robertson hooked up with Lauren Prevett for her second assist of the game. Prevett deposited a shot into the top of the net just under the crossbar for her second career goal, giving North Greenville an already commanding 2-0 lead in just the 16th minute of play.
NGU's offense would continue to pressure the GSU defense in the second half. The Crusaders put seven shots on frame, forcing the Canes goalie to make eight saves. Asheton Robinson would eventually come through for NGU with her first career goal, extending North Greenville's lead to 3-0.
The NGU defense would keep the GSU offense at bay as the Canes took just four shots during the 90 minutes of action. NGU starter Madelynn Schober needed to make just one save for NGU.
The win over the Hurricanes moves NGU to 2-0 on the season. It is the first 2-0 start for the Crusaders since 2009. The Crusaders will open Conference Carolinas play on Saturday when they travel to Mount Olive College to take on the Trojans in a 1pm kickoff.
