Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Women's Soccer Team notched an opening game win on Thursday night with a 1-0 triumph over Brevard College.
Thursday's win marked the first season opening win for the women's soccer team since 2011. North Greenville withstood an onslaught of shots from the Tornados in the first half as Brevard put seven on goal in the first 45. Madelynn Schober went the distance for the Crusaders in the goal, finishing with six saves.
North Greenville took the lead in the 39th minute period on a goal from Lindsay Tuten who broke free and out-sprinted the defense. Tuten had another chance late in the second half but her shot was blocked and returned down field. The Tornados finished with 14 shots to just seven for NGU. North Greenville improved to 1-0 on the season while the BC falls to 0-1.
The Crusaders will host Georgia Southwestern on September 9th at 5:30pm in Tigerville.
